Many of us come to spiritual practice to find a way out of suffering. Soon however we discover another reason to practice: the heart’s yearning for truth. Embracing the sincerity of the heart is the lifelong process of responding to this yearning. When we embrace this sincerity, we say “yes” and incline toward expressing nonjudgmentally with clarity and kindness amidst our daily challenges and joys. We discover a circle—namely, that the yearning of the heart fuels our ongoing commitment to spiritual practice even when our discipline flags, and that the practices of mindfulness, lovingkindness and others clarify and affirm the heart’s yearning. We move more deeply into the reality of the Buddhadharma (the Buddha’s teaching), which has been defined as “the undefended truth,” and we live with greater peace and happiness.

This silent retreat will include guided and unguided meditation, walking meditation, mindful movement and a talk by Susan. There will be time for questions. Open to all, whether you are new to meditation or a long-time practitioner.
