Bridging The Great Divide
With Pat Coffey
There are great divisions everywhere we look. Political parties have difficulty with civil discourse, the gap between the rich and others widens and solidifies. Ethnic, racial, and religious chasms spawn all sorts of mayhem. Even protection of the environment is a victim of The Great Divide rendering any action to heal our planet mostly ineffective or non-existent.
How can we work with the magnitude of all this and not become paralyzed or despondent? Where is the joy amidst all this?
How does our practice interplay with these challenges and forces, if at all?
How does one determine the appropriate response to these issues?
Tonight we will explore the role of our meditation practice in addressing the challenges of modern life.
IMCC meets every Tuesday evening for a period of guided meditation and a talk by one of IMCC's experienced meditation teachers. The program is designed to be friendly and of interest to people with no meditation experience as well as more advanced practitioners.
