with Jeanne van Gemert

Jeanne van Gemert is a co-founder and guiding teacher at Triangle Insight Meditation in Durham, NC.  She has been meditating since 1990, is a psychotherapist who often utilizes the expressive arts, and a sculptor.

Jeanne integrates mindfulness concentration and transformation skills into her Mind/Body Psychotherapy in private practice and was  on staff full-time for 9 years at Duke Integrative Medicine.  She interned under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical Center in 1995, completed the Community Dharma Leader Program at Spirit Rock in 2008 and was an Instructor in the Duke’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Program for 16 years.  She has studied extensively with Shinzen Young, Tara Brach and Leigh Brasington.

Jeanne lived in Charlottesville from 1969-1992, taught art at PVCC and Sweet Briar College, and was one of the founders of McGuffey Art Center.
