You are invited to join IMCC Member, Sonia Fox, for a Mindful Dialogue and Discourse Study Group.

Sonia says:

Please join me for a Mindful Dialogue and Discourse Study Group. I am not a scholar. I have studied some of the early Buddhist discourses and the more deep my study the greater the joy and benefit I have found in it. I would like to share this experience with others who would like to read some discourses with me in various translations, using our discussion time as an opportunity to practice mindful speaking and listening. All reading will be done together.

Our next reading will be the Satipatthana Sutta. Some of the names of it, in English, are The Foundations of Mindfulness, The Frames of Reference and The Establishments of Mindfulness. In an architectural way, the Buddha describes the structure of Mindfulness, an important part of The Middle Way, the realization of which brought him freedom. A great deal that is helpful and beautiful has been written about the Sutta, but I have found no experience like that of reading it for myself, even if in translations.

We will be meeting from 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm on the second and fourth Mondays of the month, January 29thFebruary 12th and 26thMarch 12th and March 26thApril 9th and April 23rd and May 14th at Central Library, 201 East Market Street in the Madison Conference Room on the third floor. If the group wishes we can extend the meeting dates. It is a very rich study. I will provide the translations. Though no prior reading is required, translations are available on the Website, Access to Insight. There is no fee. If you wish to attend, contact: Sonia Fox at foxsonia1@gmail.com.
