Why Do You Meditate?
Teacher: Susan Stone
After a guided meditation, Susan’s talk will begin with the question, “why do you meditate.” The talk traces major stages of the meditative journey and shows how our reasons for meditating change as practice deepens—from meditating for relief from our current painful circumstances and to improve oneself, to meditating for no other reason than to meditate. Far from taking us away from the world, the mindfulness journey invites us to engage with the world in our authentic way with a heart of compassion. Ultimately, it transforms one so that increasingly Buddha Nature shines naturally through one’s actions.
