Dedicated Practitioner’s Program: The Four Noble Truths
Guiding Teachers: Patrick Coffey and Jeffrey Fracher
January 14-March 27, 2021
The 2021 IMCC Dedicated Practitioner’s Program will be based on Tricycle’s online course: The Four Noble Truths (https://learn.tricycle.org/courses/the-four-noble-truths). The on-line course consists of six (6) units of study, each consisting of a video presentation and readings, as well as supporting contemplations (the link above offers a full description of the course). During the course, we will investigate: Where does suffering come from? What is it that makes us happy? How can we live ethically in a way that supports personal and collective well-being?
Course Schedule:
§ Complete the online syllabus independently, 75 minutes per module.
§ Two 1.5 hour monthly group meetings with the Guiding Teachers in a KM-like group format to review and discuss the on-line presentation. (Jan 14, 28, Feb 11, 25, March 11, 25)
§ One 60 minute monthly small group mentoring session with a Guiding Teacher, similar to the format of group meetings held on retreats. The emphasis in these mentoring groups will be on individual practices. Each mentoring group will consist of 5 students. (Jan 21, Feb 18, March 18)
§ A three-hour retreat as a culminating experience for the program. (March 27)
Participants are expected to make every effort to attend each session and complete the online learning component. Since space is limited; if you are unable to commit to these dates, please consider waiting for another offering.
Program Fees include the cost of the Tricycle course at the group discount rate ($103) and 16 hours of teacher contact. The cost of the program should not be a financial barrier to participation; scholarships are available to any participant. Link for scholarship application: http://imeditation.org/retreats_classes
Participants may also wish to offer the Guiding Teachers dana as an offering of gratitude.
