The Teachers of IMCC invite you to participate in a lively exploration of the Ten Perfections. Through informational presentations, small and large group discussions we will explore and cultivate together The Ten Perfections, or paramis(paramitas). They are the Buddhist teachings that are probably the most useful for bringing the practice alive in everyday life. They are a list of qualities that you can develop in any situationundefinedas you're working with your family at home, at work, as you're driving, as you're meditating.
The qualities are:
Generosity Virtue Renunciation Discernment Equanimity Patience Persistence Truth Determination Goodwill
These ten qualities can also be thought of as "priorities." In fact, the word paramiis related to paramamwhich means "something of foremost importance." You try to think of these as the priorities in your life. If you make things like material wealth, status, or relationships your priorities then you're placing your happiness on things that are largely out of your control, whereas the qualities you develop in your mind as you go through life arein your control. They are things you can determine that you'll develop in any situation, regardless. -Thanissaro Bhikkhu
