Bridging Separation:
Exploring the “Creation of Other”

A Study and Practice Group
is Now Forming

Historically, incalculable harm has been caused by creating “the other”. The conceptualization of other is the initial seed and first cause for all manner of prejudice, exploitation and violence. Any spiritual practice of value has to include the personal investigation and bridging of these perceived areas of separation.

All of us have been conditioned to a large or small extent by our family of origin, communities and affiliations. With that conditioning comes various prejudices. Our task as spiritual practitioners is to be willing to recognize our own personal conditionings, to look deeply into these conditionings and to find ways to move beyond them.

All life is interdependent. The concept of a separate self standing alone is delusional.

Together in this group we will explore our personal “stuck” areas where we have created “other”. Specifically, we will explore our prejudices around race, ethnicity, gender orientation, religion, economic class, disability etc. Through various meditations and exercises we will work toward bridging these various felt separations.

Details as to number of meetings, starting date, time and place have not been established. Much of that will depend on interest level. If you have interest in such a group please register.  We will keep you abreast of details and will poll everyone interested as to the best times for the group.

Most, if not all, IMCC teachers will participate in this exploration and we hope you will join us for this important work.
