It is time for our local celebration of the International Day of Peace, and you are warmly welcomed to join us in Charlottesville for one or both events, and to join our human family in creating a world-wide culture of peace. Peace Day is a UN-sponsored annual event on September 21 which is celebrated in hundreds of communities on six continents. This year, as part of Peace Day events world-wide, there will be "Med Mobs" convened in 380 cities, including Charlottesville.
On Friday, Sept. 21, come at noon to the Pavilion to "Be the Peace" though group meditation, followed by chanting. (See
MedMob.org
or,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5nWd3VrVjs&feature=youtu.be
for more info.) You can join or leave the meditation anytime between noon and 1:00pm---at which time there will be a large group chant for 11 minutes. There will be chairs, but you may want to bring a cushion. Or, if you are unable to be there in the early afternoon, come at 6:00pm to join in Dances of Universal Peace, led by Jennifer Till, near the Free Speech Wall. There is no charge for either event.
Please return for Dances of Universal Speech from 6-7pm @ the Free Speech Wall
