Veterans Day in the United States traces its history to the conclusion of World War I.  Today, 100 years after the start of the "War to End All Wars", our nation continues to fight on multiple fronts.

The national holidays of Memorial Day and Veterans Day are important times to pause, reflect, and engage with this reality.   Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh has written, "Veterans are the light at the tip of the candle."  What does this mean?  Is it true?  If so, then what might Veterans have to teach us about how to make peace within ourselves and with each other?  While acknowledging that the community of Veterans is incredibly diverse, this talk will encourage us to examine our views about war and peace.  It will close with a brief loving kindness practice.

IMCC meets every Tuesday evening for a period of guided meditation and a talk by one of IMCC's experienced meditation teachers. These events are suitable for newcomers as well as experienced meditation practitioners. Chairs are provided. Bring a cushion or mat if you prefer. Admission is free; dana (donations) gratefully accepted.
