“Being Present with Fear"

The experience of fear is an unavoidable part of being human. It is necessary for the survival of our species. Without fear our prehistoric ancestors would not have been able to avoid being killed as prey. The types of threats that our ancient ancestors faced are rare in our times. Nevertheless, the experience of fear remains a part of our makeup despite most of the threats that we face being imaginary. The talk will explore the Buddha’s teachings on fear in light of the current research on human fear. Strategies for managing fear in our daily lives will also be addressed. Please join us for the talk which will follow a period of meditation.
