For more than two years, IMCC members and others have kept a silent weekly vigil at Court Square, the central site of the historic slave trade in Charlottesville. The Buddha taught maintaining a heart of lovingkindness even in the face of brutality. What does this teaching mean in the context of the atrocity of slavery and continued racial injustice?
