Guided Meditation and Dharma Talk with Matt & Anna

Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, 7 – 8:30 PM

We are meeting in person at 717 Rugby Rd in the Unitarian Universalist sanctuary and on Zoom.

Welcoming Desire and Longing Onto the Path

Desire gets a bad rap in Buddhism; sensual attachment is described as one of the three "poisons" or "unwholesome roots" that underlie all afflictions and keep us trapped in samsara. Instead of demonizing sensuality, what if we could dance with desire, harness its raw energy for the benefit of ourselves and others, and discover the dignity available in the process?

Drawing from the chapter on Awakening to the Source of Longing from Tara Brach's book Radical Acceptance, Matt Fritts and Anna Fox Ryan will guide us in exploring and discussing ideas such as inherent dignity, right relationship, and what it means to allow desire to inform our living expression of Dharma.

Until we meet, we invite you to sit with this inquiry:

As I make room for the desires and cravings inherent to my human experience, what healthy resources open me to their underlying energy and messages?

Please note: To support safety around this material, this Dharma talk will not be available for replay on YouTube. Those who wish to engage are encouraged to attend live in-person or via zoom.
