Our regular Tuesday evening meeting will begin with a period of guided meditation and followed with a talk by Susan Stone, "The Sound of Silence & How We Create Noise." Singer-songwriters Simon and Garfunkel, poet Pablo Neruda, and we ourselves have all experienced the din of noise without meaning, “this sadness of never understanding ourselves,” as Neruda said.  This is what the Buddha referred to as suffering, and his teaching shows what we can do about it: We can train the heart and mind to find the silence within. This talk focuses on the sound of silence and one way we unconsciously create racket in our lives--by unwise multi-tasking. And it explores what we might do about this.  The talk will be followed by informal discussion. An evening for all, whether you're new to meditation or experienced.
