Mountains Are Mountains--Aren't They?
Among the varied ways of speaking about deep truth, classical Zen style is surely among the more obscure. Many Western students prefer more readily relatable language. Yet Zen offers powerful guidance on the spiritual path and daily living in our tumultuous world. In this talk Susan, who trained in Zen for eight years, including living two years in a Zen monastery, focuses on demystifying the classical Zen style, shedding light on its characteristically terse language, and uncovering an implicit bias that radically shapes the way we relate to life. There will be time for discussion and questions after the talk.
